U.S. jobless claims nudged up lower than expectations while the GDP for the Q3 showed some advance
Requests for unemployment in the U.S. surged lower than the earlier week projections, but still indicating that the unemployment issue is still existing, while GDP nudged up better than expectations in the Q3.
According to Labor Department's announcement on Thursday, the initial claims advanced by 2,000 to the amended 216,000 for the week, lower than expectations at 222,000 based on a poll conducted by Reuters.
The unemployment claims have been fluctuating during the past weeks but stayed lower than 270,000, as it could be alarming sign if the claims trespassed this number according to economists.
The claims have not been much affected by the layoffs in the technology and housing sectors.
The GDP figures rose to 3.7% on year basis for the earlier quarter, which was amended higher from 2.9% announced for the previous month and the economy shrunk by 0.6% for the Q2.
Although concerns are spiking over recession and the retreat of the housing market, the growth projection for the Q4 is still high at 2.7%.
